    Work Statement:

"I remember that in my childhood, I would unconsciously draw patterns of cylinders and geometric shapes on books and paper. At that time, I thought I would become a designer because these cylinders and geometric shapes made me think of architecture and space. After many years, when I became a graduate student at the Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts, I still wanted to bring this initial, somewhat subconscious awareness into my paintings. These cylinders in a state of unconsciousness also happen to express my understanding of the word

    'relationship.'

Regarding my understanding of 'relationship,' borrowing the words of Mr. Yu Hua, 'I no longer pretend to have many friends, but have returned to solitude, with my true self, starting a solitary life. We once eagerly sought external recognition, only to realize in the end that the world belongs to us and has nothing to do with others.' This time, I chose the theme of 'Irrelevant,' which includes two meanings: first, temporality, and second, simultaneity. 'No relation, no entanglement.' I believe that this primarily does not involve the traditional sense of painting technique; secondly, it does not involve human emotions and desires. In my works, I use a 'direct' and even 'simple' approach to connect the complexity and unspoken relationships in human nature, incorporating the 'alienation' in interpersonal relationships into the images. In this unique world, interpersonal relationships are replaced by cylindrical angles, and the entanglement of human relationships resides in multiple worlds. Genuine emotions and emotional communication become blurred here.

Now, in this digital age, how do artists explore the possibilities of digital painting in terms of visuals and emotions, and how can this medium respond to our contemporary reality? This has been a question that has constantly troubled me. Although we live in a virtual reality, we find

that everything is pixelated, losing its original delicacy and depth. People in this place seem trapped in a flat existence, lacking real emotions and connections. There are no corresponding relationships or cause and effect; only the cold cylindrical elements deliberately stand out in this painted reality. This painting landscape is inspired by the metaphor of Pinocchio's long nose and the helplessness brought about by faulty pixels.

While such a description may sound somewhat absurd, it resonates deep within me and is closely connected to my growth experiences, depicting the human body in contemporary society as a 'moment' in the flow of time, with traces of its path..."

How would you describe your creation?

Since 2021, I have been moving towards real creation, when my life has been in a state of repetition and confusion. In these chaotic moments, I seek a support to express my inner feelings. Unable to communicate directly for fear of being real, I often chose to play a role to show my true self. Therefore, I am in dire need of an emotional link, and the columns are in tune with my state of mind.

In my creations, I incorporate the instinct that I have developed since childhood, i.e. the habitual depiction of columns, into my works. This kind of columns sketched in an unconscious state subtly convey my emotions.

What factors have influenced your creation?

Although my work has no trace of the images of Bosch and Wang Xingwei, I deeply love their creativity, playfulness and irony, which has become a source of inspiration for me.

    Absent Gallery:

What are your upcoming plans or expectations for the artwork?

In my future creations, I will incorporate more of my feelings and observations of life. Maybe it stems from the lyrics of a song, or the marvelous process of a life from cell to person. Creation remains spontaneous and fun.

    Absent Gallery:

Please use one word to describe "Prelude". or describe in one word how you feel about "Prelude".

A descriptive word for " prelude" could be "opening", or perhaps "intriguing".
